BOSTON – Three #AEWSOC teams improved to 2-0 in conference play as Hartford, UMass Lowell and Stony Brook all posted victories to stay perfect in league action.
The Hawks extended their unbeaten streak to six games (5-0-1) with a 2-0 win over UMBC. The Seawolves’ also extended their win streak to four games with a 3-0 win at Vermont. In the most-thrilling finish of the day, UMass Lowell beat Binghamton, 1-0, in overtime on Calliste Brookshire’s strike from the left side. Additionally, NJIT earned its first-ever America East win, 1-0 over Maine, while UAlbany and New Hampshire played to a 1-1 draw.
Ten more league contests take place this week with conference games set for Thursday, Sept. 30 and Sunday, Oct. 3. Check out the #AEWSOC schedule for complete information.
Each team will play a nine-game schedule in the single round robin format. The top six teams in the conference standings based on points percentage will be qualify for the 2021 America East women’s soccer championship.

Offensive Player of the Week
Alyssa Francese, Stony Brook – Sr., Forward, Yorktown Heights, N.Y.
- Scored three goals in Stony Brook’s 3-0 win over Vermont on Sunday.
- This is Francese’s second career hat trick (9/17/17 vs. Wagner) and the first by any America East player in a conference game since UMass Lowell’s Stephanie Kemp did so on Oct. 6, 2019.
- This is Francese’s fifth career Offensive Player of the Week honor and first of this season (3/23/20, 10/7/19, 9/9/19, 10/2/17).
Defensive Player of the Week
Dunja Mostarac, UMass Lowell – Sr., Defender, Belgrade, Serbia
- Led a back line that didn’t surrender a goal in a 1-0 overtime win vs. Binghamton.
- Helped hold the Bearcats to just three shots on goal.
- This is Mostarac’s first career Defensive Player award.
Rookie of the Week
Jordyn Ferraro, Hartford – So., Forward, Manalapan, N.J.
- Scored her first career goal in Hartford’s 2-0 win over UMBC on Sunday.
- Her goal in the 63rd minute proved to be the game winner.
- This is Ferraro’s first career Rookie of the Week honor.
